D’aci Knight is a violist from Los Angeles, CA. She was principal violist for both the Colburn Chamber Orchestra and the Colburn Youth Orchestra, assistant principal for the Oberlin Orchestra, and has performed with orchestras and chamber groups in Europe, Los Angeles, at Carnegie Hall in New York, in Washington D.C., and on national radio for Sunday’s Live at LACMA. As a soloist, she premiered composer Sakari Dixon Vanderveer’s work with Salastina in Los Angeles and performed at the Primrose International Viola Festival as part of the American Viola Society showcase.
D’aci has performed in solo and chamber masterclasses with David Finckel, the Jupiter Quartet, Geraldine Walther, Robert deMaine, and Ron Leonard. Previous teachers include Helen Callus, Jeffrey Irvine, and Peter Slowik. She is currently a student with Mark Jackobs at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Intent on helping others, D’aci is a musician/organizer for the Los Angeles branch of Music for Food, raising money benefitting local food banks. Beginning during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, D’aci has been performing weekly virtual bedside concerts for patients on ventilators in the ICU at UCLA Medical Center through a partnership with Salastina and Project: Music Heals Us.
